La chute du héros

Model : Raphaël Santos
Photography, postproduction & costume : Audrey Piguet

This work is about the superheroes, about these fictional characters who represent some values, like strength, success, justice. But here they are falling; they doubt, they age, or they simply face their weaknesses. It’s a kind of post-glory, like a gentle resignation.
But the superhero status is always present, its magnificence is still intact through his costume, the only witness of their exceptional destiny. For it, I decided to make the costumes, to give a more realistic and less artificial appearance of those characters.

Their gestures are more human than extraordinary, and it creates a possibility of an identification of us through them, admiration becomes empathy and understanding. I think that’s possible because these icons are a pure product of our imagination, they have been built by our dreams of glory and legality, without concealing the imperfect part related to humanity.
